Overview
"Knight Nightmare" is a multimedia installation that brings together a variety of works from a.f.art theatre and Jin Feng, including live performance, video, photography, installation and sculpture, created as a dialog and confrontation between the works. The exhibition will turn the space of Don Gallery into an experimental theatre: By staging a certain pomposity in style, taste and smell, the space will tune in to imaginations of Old European aristocracy. Furthermore, while walking into the performance, the audience will be ambushed with strange feelings...In her performance at the exhibition opening, Huang Fangling attempts to deconstruct, at the same time rebuild, the classical female role in traditional theatre. We cordially invite you to participate in a cross-border drama game.

Huang Fangling lives and works in Shanghai. She received her bachelor degree in drama performance from the Academy of Arts of People's Liberation Army. Later, she continued with studies in art management at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and recently obtained her master degree in directing from the Shanghai Theatre Academy in 2014. She currently works as an actor and director at Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center. She directed and also starred in Harold Pinter's Old Times (2014), acted in God of Carnage (2011), The New Tenant (2012) as well as other drama and popular TV series. In recent years, she began to cooperate with contemporary artists, including collaboration with Same Samore, Shi Qing, Yin Yi and lately Jin Feng. KNIGHT NIGHTMARE at Don Gallery will be the prelude to her new project a.f.art theatre by which she wishes to promote the experimental exchange between art and theatre.
