Along with the successful ending of Li Shan’s solo exhibition “Fuxing Renaissance,” Don Gallery officially vacates its Fuxing Road Space at the Blackstone Apartments in Shanghai’s former French Concession. Since being founded in 2007, it has championed the careers of artists who are contributing to the way Chinese contemporary art was presented. In the past five years, it built one of the most dynamic experimental platforms in the city for emerging and new talents to develop their evolving practice and wide-ranging potential, which was largely defined by the charm of the historical building with classical decorative motifs and eclectic revival styles, constantly providing “meta-theatrical” conditions for the making of exhibitions. Don Gallery now at the West Bund takes a more expansive internal space and environment. It endeavours to take more initiative on curatorial innovation and embrace a promising configuration of international artists, yet continues to support an important generation of Chinese artists in collaboration with various institutions.

Don Gallery hereby extends its heartfelt gratitude to the artists who have participated in the exhibitions hosted in its Fuxing Road Space at the Blackstone Apartments: a.f.art theatreFangling, CHEN Yun, CHENG Yuyang, Lore Van Elslande, HAN Feng, HU Weiyi, HU Zi, HUANG Ling, JIN Feng, LEI Benben, LI Shan, LIU Ren, LU Tianyang, MA Jianfeng, NING Zuohong, QU Fengguo, Mick Ryan, SHANG Tun, SHAO Kai, SU Chang, Jesper Waldersten, WANG Man, WANG Yanling, XIAO Min, XUAN Qing, YANSHA Zi’an, ZAKA, ZHANG Ruyi, ZHANG Yaxin, ZHANG Yunyao, ZHENG Huan, ZHOU Yongjie. Don Gallery grows up together with the artists, and looks forward to a brighter future full of vitality.
