Overview
Don Gallery is honored to present a local young artist Liu Ren’s solo exhibition “2008102020091112..8:35...” from December 18th, 2009 to January 31st, 2010. Distinct works of Liu Ren since 2005 will be exhibited.

After awarded Luo Zhongli Scholarship and Shanghai “Creative M50” Silver Award in 2007, this year Liu Ren’s new pieces of work are successively audacious and broad-minded, with a critical perspective on culture and social reality, which looks like utterance of respect to Dadaism. Fragile eggs as the pick of material, and the highly involved behaviors, jointly recount his personal memory of growth “full of mixed pain and hope”, living in the contemporary China facing the great crash of internationalization.

Liu Ren’s art has experienced phases from grand narration to care for individuals. The current plane paintings are in different context of discussion with his installation works in the past. And Liu’s interest has gradually shifted to the challenges and doubts of the meaning of language as a whole, and the transition of its relation with the daily existence of people. Meanwhile, Liu Ren found his new identity as a narrator in the process of continuous rehearsal, and finally emancipated himself from being an involved player “on the edge of collapse at every moment”, in the name of art.
