CHANG Ling 常陵

Biography

CHANG Ling was born in 1975 in Hualien City, Taiwan. He received his Diplôme National d'Arts Plastique from the Ecole Nationale des Arts de la Poulième in 2000, followed by Diplôme National Supérieur d'Arts Plastique from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Paris in 2004, where he studied under French masters such as Christian Boltanski, Jean-Luc Vilmouth and Jean-Marc Bustamante, etc. In 2006, he joined the “Hantoo” Art Group in Taipei. His sojourn in France profoundly shaped his artistic sensibilities, providing him with a nuanced understanding of diverse social structures and cultural systems. This enriched perspective finds expression in CHANG Ling's art, reflecting a synthesis of his experiences and the cross-cultural influences he encountered during his living under different systems.
 
His solo shows include "War Preparation" (Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei, 2023), "It Blossomed In An Instant When Time Did Not Exist" (Don Gallery, Shanghai, 2022), "Chang Ling" (InSain Gallery, Taipei, 2021), "Illusion Society-History of Ordinary Life" (Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Art, Kaohsiung, 2019), "Illusion Society" (Don Gallery, Shanghai, 2019), "Illusion Society" (Fo Guang Yuan Paris Art Gallery, Paris, 2017), "Illusion Society" (Gallerie Jean-Francois Cazaux, Paris, 2015), and "Illusion Society – Portraits of Ordinary People" (MOT/ ARTS, Taipei, 2013), etc. Group shows include "Geopoetics: Changing Nature of Threatened Worlds"(National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung, 2023), "Fight Club – Hantoo 20th" (Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei, 2018), "Hardcore Rally with Hantoo Art Group" (National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei, 2017), etc.
